Ezequiel Montes Implements Regional Security Strategy

The municipal president of Ezequiel Montes, Iván Reséndiz Ramírez, announced that his administration aims to implement a regional security strategy involving several nearby municipalities. These include Pedro Escobedo, Tequisquiapan, San Juan del Río, Cadereyta, and even the municipality of Tecozautla, Hidalgo.

Reséndiz Ramírez communicated that this Friday a security table will be held in Bernal, where mayors will meet with representatives from the Secretariat of Citizen Security, National Guard, Attorney General's Office of the Republic, and the state. The purpose of this strategy is to prevent the spread of crime towards Ezequiel Montes and reduce the rates of theft and cattle rustling, which are the most common crimes in the area.

Regarding this issue, Reséndiz Ramírez himself expressed his concern about insecurity in nearby municipalities and its potential impact on Ezequiel Montes. In his words, "I am worried about the situations occurring in other municipalities in the state of Querétaro and Hidalgo that could have a cockroach effect in my municipality."

Although theft and cattle rustling are the most reported crimes, the mayor mentioned that the incidence is low. However, the goal is to contain any increase and, in the specific case of cattle rustling, to bring it down to zero. Reséndiz Ramírez also spoke in favor of eliminating the fees for municipal licenses but emphasized the need for that proposal to be accompanied by a strategy to compensate for the loss of income for municipalities.

The economic impact on Ezequiel Montes would be minimal, given the annual revenue of 6 million, which mainly does not come from licenses, but from inspections carried out in the municipality.
